Britain, home of the secret, non-jury Diplock trials and a shoot-to-kill-on-sight policy against suspected (yes, that's right: suspected, not convicted) IRA operatives; Britain, who has used torture on terror suspects (yes, that's right: suspects, not convicts) since the 1970's; Britain, who the United States saw fit to rebel against two-and-a-quarter centuries ago; this Britain has just announced a new anti-terrorism law that allows for the arrest and detention of terror suspects for ninety days. And it has bitterly divided the British people.
Wait a minute...here in the US (or in our territories, or in friendly nations that will do our bidding), we have hundreds of "detainees" who have been held for three years, without having had any charges filed against them. Many of them have committed no crimes whatsoever.
And Americans are silent.
What has happened to "the land of the free and the home of the brave" in the last five years?
For democracy's sake, folks, start making some noise about IMPEACHMENT!
